Deloitte CPO survey 2017: Cost, risk and digital are top priorities to improve growth in uncertain times

Kuala Lumpur, April 5 — Cost reduction and managing risk top the list of procurement leaders’ business priorities in 2017, according to Deloitte’s annual global Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) survey.

With uncertainty and growth ambitions being a constant focus in many organisations, the number one priority for 79 per cent of CPOs is reducing costs. This is closely linked to 48 per cent wanting to increase cash flow to help fund growth.

The growing role of contingent workforce and the expanding role of technology to connect talent with employers are two key talent trends set to shape 2017, according to the latest Randstad Sourceright Talent Trends Report under the theme “Beyond the Limits: the New Frontier of Talent”. 

Technology has transformed the economy and many different industries, and there is no exception in the world of work. According to the report, 79% of respondents say technology adoption in their companies has enhanced the attraction, engagement and retention of talent.

Kuala Lumpur, March 15 - ASEAN businesses have urged President Trump’s administration to provide more clarity and certainty in U.S. trade policies for the benefit of mutual growth in the U.S. and ASEAN. A roundtable discussion, with the theme “Dealing with a changing world order: What will Trump’s economic and foreign policies mean for ASEAN?” was organised by CIMB ASEAN Research Institute (CARI) today, in collaboration with the ASEAN Business Club.

Tan Sri Dr. Munir Majid, Chairman of CARI, and President of the ASEAN Business Club chaired the roundtable. Speakers were Dr. Arup Raha, chief economist at CARI; Ambassador Michael W. Michalak, senior vice president and regional managing director at the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council; Datuk Abdul Majid Ahmad Khan, former ambassador of Malaysia to China; and Tunku Zain Al ’Abidin who is a senior fellow at CARI.
